Exhibits & Galleries

Public space for art exhibits is available at the Central Library and at the Goleta Branch Library. All exhibits are the work of individual artists or members of art organizations located within the Library system service area. Access to exhibit galleries is free to all Library visitors. The Library Director or designee must approve applications for use of exhibit space.

At the Central Library, non-profit art organizations may request, in writing, a period of up to one month for display of members' artwork. One-person shows are exhibited by artists selected by a jury of local members of the art community, set up and supervised by Library staff and a local arts organization. Spaces available at the Central Library include:

• Faulkner Gallery – used for group shows only; room size 30’ x 50’ (1,500 sq. ft.); charge for use of exhibit space is $400.00 per month.

• Faulkner Gallery East/West – used for small group or individual shows; room size 11’ x 22’ (242 sq. ft.) each; charge for use of exhibit space is $80.00 per month for each gallery.

• Townley Room – located on the lower level of the Central Library and used for group or individual shows; room size 22’ x 32’ (704 sq. ft.); charge for use of exhibit space is $100.00 per month.

At the Goleta Branch Library, non-profit art organizations may request a period of up to one month for display of members' artwork. The space available at the Goleta Branch Library:

• Goleta Multipurpose Room – used for display of art from local non-profit groups and schools; room size is 28 ½’ x 35’; charge for use of exhibit space is $150.00 per month.
   

Monthly Art Exhibit Sales:

Artists using any of the gallery spaces are responsible for providing the necessary tools and equipment for installing and removing exhibit items, for providing any notice or publicity on the exhibit and for insurance coverage. Those artists wishing to hold receptions may do so, but should schedule this date and time of the event with the Library; there is an additional charge if refreshments are to be served. Please note that all Library exhibit areas also serve as community meeting spaces and may be scheduled for Library events or for meetings, lectures, and presentations by other organizations.
