:: Local Obituary Services

Reference staff of the Santa Barbara Public Library will search for and provide copies, as available, of obituaries for persons who either resided or died in Santa Barbara County. There is no charge for this service. 

Please submit requests for an obituary search in writing:

As a part of your request, please include:

• Name of the deceased, including nicknames or other names which might help identify the person;
• Exact date of death or approximate date of death;
• Your name and mailing address.

Reference staff will search obituaries in the local newspaper on the exact or approximate date of death and for ten days beyond the date given. Staff cannot conduct searches when no date is known, so please provide as much information as possible.
